Our Student Ministry will spend the fall semester going through Alpha. Alpha is a course designed to facilitate discussion around the major questions of life and faith. In a welcoming environment, we will watch the Alpha videos and discuss who Jesus is, what it means to have faith, how and why we pray and read the Bible, and what all of this means for our daily life.
The Cantate Chamber Choir of St. Luke’s UMC is comprised of members of the Chancel Choir. Cantate is a well-loved vocal ensemble in the community and throughout the Oklahoma UMC Conference. The members of this choir love to sing and prefer various genres of musical style. From Vivaldi to Brubeck to The Beatles to Billy Joel, these singers also excel at early church music, sacred hymns and rousing gospel greats. They communicate with their audience through the magic of song. Cantate is honored and very excited to sing in the beautiful, historic Sanctuary of First Baptist Church. We invite you to join us as we inspire through the inspiration of our Holy Creator!
All students (middle school and high school) are invited to join us for our annual Fall Retreat - Alpha Weekend! On Wednesday nights during the fall semester, we are going through a course called Alpha, designed to foster a discussion around life’s biggest questions.
During Alpha Weekend, we will be talking about the Holy Spirit and the power of prayer in our lives. We will spend time having fun and playing games. We will spend time in prayer and meaningful conversations. And we’ll have a time of service.
More information, and registration, can be found here: www.fbcokc.org/alpha
Every one of us is made in the image and likeness of God. We are unique, we are worthy of love, and we are called to greatness. In this world, though, it can be easy to be distracted from that truth and begin to doubt God's love is real. We live in a world that tells us we are not smart enough, not pretty enough, not rich enough, not thin enough, and don't have enough friends. It's easy to focus on the ways we fall short of worldly perfection and to forget that we are already made perfect. We are already enough. God has made each of us for a unique purpose, and he calls each of us to know him in unique ways.
